Ralph Hollmon's Advice | Milwaukee, the Virus & Fundraising

Recently, my partner Marybeth Budisch and I asked ourselves a question: If we were raising funds for or leading a nonprofit and were faced with our current crisis, who would we turn to and ask for advice?

So we put together a list of individuals who have been there and overcame the odds. We asked them: What strategies would you suggest to a nonprofit leader going through a situation like this, based on your past experiences?

This is another in the series and highlights Ralph Hollmon, who’s best known for leading the Urban League of Milwaukee for 15 years.

Here’s what Ralph shared:

“These are difficult and uncertain times for non profits. I suggest that the Chief Executive Officer meet with their Board leadership and develop both short and long term operational plans. Getting through this COVID 19 pandemic will pose some hardships, but if we stay calm and follow the official guidance, we will get through this together.”

Ralph’s bio:

Ralph Hollmon is best known for his nearly 15 years as president and CEO of the Urban League of Milwaukee, winning the Milwaukee Business Journal’s Lifetime Achievement honor in the Central City Awards program in 2017 shortly after his retirement. He joined the Urban League after holding jobs at the Wisconsin Department of Administration and Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, and is still active, including board leadership for the America’s Black Holocaust Museum.
